What can I offer you
In your time of desolation
When the cry of the heart contends with
Even the gladness of a sunny day?
What can I offer you, whose slipped disguise
Reveals in crumpled torment
The layer beneath your outward smiling charm?
When grief stares, piercingly, beckoning
Here I am, old friend, do you know me?
I can but answer, yes, too well
Then I can offer in humble spirit
Another tear
And mirrored brokenness
Yes, I am here
Will be my reply.
