The Bible is full of the promises of God. Many resources have been made to showcase Bible verses which we can use to encourage ourselves in our daily lives. Often it’s hard to know where to begin when looking for help in a given situation. Fortunately with access to the internet it’s now easy to Google “Bible verse for…” and resources will be at the ready. In former days I remember looking at the back of my Gideons little New Testament which had “where to find help when…. Anxious, discouraged etc.” Other than that, when reading the Bible and a verse deeply resonates with you, it’s good to write it down and save it in a journal, or display it somewhere where you can see it and be reminded of what it means to you.
I was reminded of the many, many promises of God recently when I read through the first chapter of the book of Colossians. In this letter, Paul outlines so many benefits of being a Christian. Here are the ones I picked out in just one short chapter:
God will give you
Faith
Love
You will have knowledge of His will
He will give you wisdom and understanding
You will bear fruit
You will please God
You will be strengthened in your faith
You will receive endurance and patience
You will be joyful and thankful
You will be qualified to share in the inheritance of God
You will be rescued from darkness
You will become a citizen of God’s kingdom
You will be redeemed
You will be forgiven
You will be reconciled to God
You will be free from accusation
You will be joyful, even when suffering
You will understand mysteries
You will be able to proclaim and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ
You will be able to contend with energy.
Wow, what a list! God is glorified when we come into relationship with Him and we are made new. We grow in the Christian life to share and impact others for God. No better life can there ever be.
